CITY OF TAKOMA PARK: Vintage Movie Night Featuring Anti-War Films

Movie

City Of Takoma Park issued the following announcement.

As we witness the ongoing horror of the war in Ukraine, independent filmmaker Richard Hall will share a variety of vintage anti-war films which draw parallels between the conflict in Ukraine and the Vietnam War and highlight ongoing efforts to promote peace and equality.

The screening will feature anti-Vietnam War films and ads created by peace activists, including the Women's International League for Peace & Freedom. The Yippies (Youth International Party) will take center stage in a delightfully bizarre short film satirizing the protests at the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago.

Richard Hall also will screen his own anti-war and mock educational short film titled "Daddy Why Do People Have Wars?". Hall worked at C-SPAN for 30 years as a video journalist, and he has organized Vintage Movie Nights in Takoma Park for more than a decade. You can learn more about his documentaries at nerdsmakemedia.com.
